BHUBANESWAR: The Crime Branch-STF of Odisha Police seems giving sleepless nights drug peddlers in the State with seizer of 15.648 kg Brown Sugar and arrest of as many as 40 peddlers in last 7 months starting from January this year.
Backed by able leadership of flamboyant IPS officer, JN Pankaj, DIG, the Special Task Force of has once again seized 3.28 Kg of brown sugar at Kuliana area on NH-16 in Baripada of Mayurbhanj district and arrested one person in connection with the case on Saturday.
Following a tip-off about a transaction on Sunday, the STF conducted a raid at Kuliana area on NH-16 and seized 3.2845 Kg of brown sugar from the accused person.
Police have registered a case and arrested the accused under relevant Sections of IPC. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
The 2005 batch IPS officer, Pankaj who hails from Bihar, apart from DIG, STF, is holding additional charge of Northern Police Range headquarters in western town of Sambalpur.
Sources said since Pankaj joined the STF as DIG, Drug peddlers in the State are finding too difficult to run their business.
