CUTTACK: Madhusudan Das, the pride of Odisha, built Utkal Tannery not for the business but to inspire Swadeshi sentiments in the society. We too have to create a sense of Swadeshi and patriotism among the students, which will produce children like Madhubabu, Dharappad and Baji Raut, said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan while addressing the students.
On Saturday, while participating in the closing ceremony of the “Diamond Jayanti Celebration-2025” of ‘Kamalakant Vidyapeeth’ in Kaliabuda, Cuttack, he said that a saint like Guru Nanak came to a region like Cuttack. In such a region, due to the generosity and land given by the then Mahant Maharaj Late Kamalakant Dev, an institution like ‘Kamalakant Government High School’ has taken the form of a banyan tree in the area near the Mahanadi. This high school, which has made a name for itself in the field of education in Cuttack for 60 years, has vitality. Many institutions in Cuttack like Kamalakant are a hundred years old. He called on us to take collective responsibility for the overall development of this school.
The capital of Odisha is its intellectual power and human resources. There are about 1 crore students from Anganwadi to higher education institutions in the state. That is, one-fourth of the population of Odisha is the student power. While the 21st century has given a great opportunity to the knowledge-based economy, Odisha will have to connect this 1 crore student power with global skills to fulfill the dream of ‘Developed Odisha’ by 2036 and ‘Developed India’ by 2047. The Double Engine Government will be a full partner in strengthening the education infrastructure in the state, including Cuttack.
On this auspicious occasion, Shri Pradhan released the souvenir “A Feriya Mo Pilal Din” and praised it. Shri Pradhan paid tribute to the then Mahant Maharaj Late Kamalakanta Deb in the school premises. Odisha Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, Higher Education Minister Suryavansi Suraj, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, Cuttack Sadar MLA Prakash Chandra Sethi and Cuttack Chaudwar MLA Sauvik Biswal were present at the event.
