Dharmendra Thanks PM as Power Ministry PSUs rebates Rs 84.93 Crore to DISCOMs in Odisha

NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR: While thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Power Minister RK Singh, Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday said a rebate of ₹84.93 crore offered by PSUs of Ministry of Power, Government of India ( NHPC 3.78 crore + NTPC 56.8 crore + PGCIL 24.35 crore) to DISCOMS in Odisha for power purchase during the lockdown period will provide much-needed relief to the distressed power utility sector in the state.

“Thank Hon. PM Shri Narendra Modi ji and Union Min. Shri Raj Kumar Singh for the concrete steps and continuous support to help the power sector and DISCOMS in Odisha impacted by the challenges of #Covid-19,” Pradhan said in a Facebook post.

“A rebate of ₹84.93 crore offered by PSUs of Ministry of Power, Government of India ( NHPC 3.78 crore + NTPC 56.8 crore + PGCIL 24.35 crore) to DISCOMS in Odisha for power purchase during the lockdown period will provide much-needed relief to the distressed power utility sector in the State,” Pradhan said.

“Central Government under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi is committed to provide continuous supply of power to Odisha and also fulfil additional power demand by industrial, commercial and domestic consumers as a result of uptick in economic activities post lifting of the lockdown,” he added.
