SAMBALPUR: When a girl child is born in a house, the house becomes heaven. A girl child is the most precious gem. We should always give her love and respect. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the progress of society lies in the rise of women power.
Joining a program to honor the mothers of girls born during ‘Navratra’ in Sambalpur district, Shri Pradhan said that Navratri is the festival of worshipping the nine forms of Nari Shakti or Durga. We worship every girl as a goddess in the form of a girl. Being born during Navratri is a special blessing for these girls. The girls who are born during Navratri, the festival of worship of mothers, are the form of the goddess. It is our responsibility to take proper care of them according to their age, take care of their safety, health and provide them with vitamin-rich food. With the aim of creating public awareness, such an innovative program by Vikas Foundation Trust is an inspiration for the society.
Shri Pradhan praised the improved sex ratio of Sambalpur district. He said that in many districts of the country, there are an average of 700 females for every 1000 males, while in Sambalpur district there are 1067 females for every 1000 males, which is a sign of a progressive society. It is a matter of pride for us that out of 10,000 children born in the district, about 5,000 are girls. He said that it is necessary to take care of girls from their birth till they grow up.
Before joining the program, Shri Pradhan met the mother of a girl born during Navratri at the Sambalpur District Headquarters Hospital and congratulated her. It is noteworthy that this Kanya Ratna Samman program of Vikas Foundation has already been concluded in Dhenkanal, Angul and Deogarh. Shri Pradhan was joined by Odisha Panchayati Raj, Rural Development and Drinking Water Minister Shri Ravi Narayan Naik in today’s program.
