Dharmendra donates 1 year salary for his Alma-Mater Vani Vihar

BHUBANESWAR: Union PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan got emotional while delivering his speech here at the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Alumni Meet of Utkal University. Pradhan, who unsuccessfully fought against the sitting Odisha Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo 30 years back, recollected his days with University’s Anthropology Department, where he did his Post Graduation.

Pradhan offered his 1 year salary and Central assistance for construction of an Auditorium and a Research Centre.The Union Minister announced Central Assistance for construction of an auditorium and a research Centre. He also urged the alumni to create an ‘Alumni Fund’ and donate money to the fund while announced his one year’s salary to the fund as donation for development of the prestigious institution.     

Pradhan said the contribution of Utkal University is immense. It has produced personalities who have flourished in administration, literature, art, social service and politics.

Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced Rs.100 Crore for the Varsity, Union Petroleum and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced Central Assistance for its development.
