BHUBANESWAR: On Thursday evening , Dharanidhar Nath, Assitant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Police, Talcher PS in Angul has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe Rs.3,000/- from a  Complainant to help him in a case, of which he was the Investigating Officer.

Sri Dharanidhar Nath, ASI  demanded immediate payment of bribe Rs.3000/-  and threatened  to arrest him if the demand was not met. Finding no other way, complaint reported the matter to Vigilance authorities.

Based on this, Vigilance Officers apprehended  accused Sri Nath, ASI, today while taking bribe Rs 3,000/- from the complaint. The entire bribe money of Rs.3,000/-  has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of ASI Sri Nath.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Nath, ASI from DA angle.
 In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No.18/2025, U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Nath, ASI.Detailed report follows
