DGP Takes Stock of Anti-Maoists’ Operations in Balangir

BALANGIR/BHUBANESWAR: In a successful Anti-Naxal operation by Balangir Police one Maoist in the rank of ACM have been neutralized. Arm, live ammunition and many incriminating Maoist materials have been seized. Odisha Police have appealed to Maoist cadres to lay down their arms, surrender before Odisha Police and benefit from generous surrender n rehabilitation policy of Odisha Government.

On Sunday, Odisha Police Chief DGP Abhay, flanked by IGP(Operations) Amitabh Thakur Balangir visited the district headquarters along with DIG , SIW Anirudha Singh and DIG(Northern Range), Deepak Kumar, to take stock of the situation. DGP interacted with the team that conducted successful operation on 27/11. SP Balangir explained the details of the operation. CRPF officials & other senior officials were present.

DGP encouraged ordinary people as well to take part in solving this great task: “One of the things you and other people can do is keep up the pressure … there are going to be some difficult decisions for government”.

 However, the DFF forces were combing the area yesterday after receiving news that the Maoists were in the Khaprakhol area. A Maoist militant was killed in what became known as the Cold War. The deceased Maoist was identified as an area commander and his Na Shankar in the Mahasamund division of Bargarh Balangir, DGP said. 

He similarly appealed to the Maoists to join the mainstream of society. So while the state government has a great plan for them, they will definitely benefit from it, ”he said. Similarly, the Maoist movement in the Balangir area has been declining, with the police continuing to combine operations to prevent moist on  Odisha.

DGP also inaugurated new DIOC building, which will help in better Anti naxal Operational planning and management.
