CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: Unprecedented security measures have been put in place in Cuttack for the Sunday India and West Indies ODI encounter.
Odisha Police DG Abhay visited the Barabati stadium on Friday in order to review the security arrangements for December 22 ODI.
The DGP while speaking to media informed that at least 80 platoons of the police force will be deployed during the match.
The Twin City Police Commissionerate also issued an advisory for free movement of vehicular traffic on the matchday in Silver City.
The Indian and West Indian cricket teams arrived here on Thursday for the third and final One-Day International to be played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on Sunday.
Both teams have won a game each, and the winner of this final match will win the series.
Minister of State for Home Dibyasankar Mishra had visited the State Police Headquarters and discussed the security arrangements for the ODI match.
Meanwhile, with no practice scheduled for Friday, the Men in Blue utilised the opportunity to get the much “needed” break to refresh themselves. India skipper Virat Kohli put some pictures on social media where he is seen enjoying the “day off” with his teammates.
“A day off and an afternoon with the boys is exactly what we needed,” Kohli wrote along with the pictures he put on Instagram.
After facing a crushing eight-wicket defeat in the first ODI in Chennai, the Men in Blue came out with a much-improved performance in the second match.
While they first put a solid show with the bat, riding on brilliant centuries from Rohit Sharma and K.L. Rahul, it was followed by a fiery burst from Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer in the death overs. The hosts then rode on record-breaking hat-trick from left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav to bowl out the visitors for 280.
