KORAPUT/CUTTACK: DGP Abhay on Friday paid a visit to South Western Police range and held a review meeting at Koraput. DGP discussed about anti-Maoists operations and COVID-19 enforcement.Director Intelligence, RK Sharma , IGP(Law and Order) S Praveen Kumar and SP Koraput were among those present at the meeting.
“DGP is on one day visit to South Western Range, Odisha. In Koraput, DGP reviewed LWE scenario, Covid enforcement in the district and border sealing along Andhra border. Dir. Int. & IG LO accompanying. SP Koraput attended the review,” Odisha Police tweeted @odisha_police.
DGP visited Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur district and reviewed LWE activity and covid enforcement measures. In Koraput, DGP reviewed the current LWE scenario, COVID enforcement in the district and border sealing along Andhra Pradesh border. Director intelligence, IG (L&O), SP Koraput attended the review. Since April 1, 2021 Koraput Police has acted against 4382 number of mask usage and social distancing rule violators and collected fine of Rs.18,86,900/-. DGP also reviewed the border enforcement established at Sunki border along Andhra and Chandili border along Chattisgarh.
Further, DGP visited Motu under Malkangiri district and reviewed the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) scenario, Anti-Maoist operations, anti-cannabis initiatives as well as the on-going COVID enforcement drive and implementation of lockdown and weekend shutdown in the district of Malkangiri. DGP urged District SP to intensify enforcement measures and ensure strict implementation of lockdown and weekend shutdown. Further, he called for strengthening the vigil on interstate movement by more stringent checks at border check posts.
DGP also appealed the Maoist cadres to leave the path of violence and join the mainstream for peaceful development of the area. DGP also visited Motu Border Check post and reviewed its functioning. At Motu police station, DGP interacted with the Policemen engaged in enforcement duties and verified about their wellbeing. DGP also visited the MV 88 BSF Camp and interacted with the jawans. Since April 1, 2021, Malkangiri police has acted against 2479 number of mask usage violators and collected fine Rs. 7,04,350/-.
DGP, later visited Nabarangpur district and reviewed covid enforcement and other operational matters. Nabarangpur Police has acted against 3965 number of mask usage and social distancing rule violators and collected fine of Rs.33,59,200/-. DGP interacted with Policemen engaged in enforcement duties and verified about their wellbeing. DGP also reviewed the border sealing arrangements on Chhatisgarh border.
Director, Intelligence and IGP LO accompanied the DGP during his visit. SsP Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur attended the review.DGP appreciated the strenuous duties performed by police personnel in fighting Covid 19, and urged all to ensure strict enforcement with empathy to address the pandemic situation in the State.
