BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: Odisha DGP Abhay on Wednesday directed the CID-CB of the State Police to investigate into the alleged murder of Chittaranjan Palei, personal security guard of BJD leader and deputy chairman of State Planning Board Sanjay Das Burma.
DGP Abhay directed the CID-CB to take over the investigation of the case, which has been registered by the Puri Sadar police. “DGP has ordered that investigation of Puri Sadar PS Case No-424 dated 12-12-21 be taken over by Crime Branch immediately,” an official statement issued said.
“Crime Branch has taken up investigation of Puri Sadar PS Case No. 424/21 corresponding to CB PS Case No. 18/21 U/S 364/392 IPC. The 4 members CB team headed by Sisir Ku Mishra DySP are heading for Puri soon.@DGPOdisha@SPPuri1,” Crime Branch, Odisha Police tweeted @CIDOdisha.
Family members of the deceased had yesterday met Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh and demanded a Crime Branch probe into the matter. Chittaranjan’s wife had alleged the involvement of Das Burma in the suspected murder.
Body of Chittaranjan was found floating in Nuanai river under Sadar Police limits in Puri district on December 13. A native of Sanabandhakera village under Brahmagiri police limits in Puri district, Chittaranjan went missing on December 10 night.
