BHUBANESWAR:  Odisha DGP SK Bansal has appealed to striking drivers to come to negotiations and not to take law into their own hands.

DGP says some criminal and anti-social elements trying to defame drivers by inciting violence. If anyone will take the law into their own hands, appropriate steps will be taken, DGP said.

“The association is not satisfied with the written assurance of the Chief Secretary. The strike will continue till the state government makes an announcement regarding fulfillment of our demands,” said Odisha Drivers’ Mahasangha president Prasanta Muduli. On the other hand, Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu today made a statement in the Assembly over the ongoing strike.

Yesterday, Chief Secretary PK Jena had held talks with the agitating drivers and requested to them to call off the strike as Government is looking into their demands and final outcome will come out in next 3 months but the drivers not responded.  BJD MLA Pranab Das along with members of Driver Ekata Mahasangha had met CS Jena.
