SUNABEDA/BHUBANESWAR: Odisha DGP Abhay flanked by Director Intelligence RK Sharma and IGP (Operations) Amitabh Thakur was on Saturday paid a visit to leftwing insurgency hit Koraput and reviewed anti-Maoists operations with DIG(South-Western) Shefeen Ahamed K, DIGP SWR and all concerned SPs.
Koraput , which earlier one of the hot bed of outlawed leftwing ultras, now seeing the fruits of development with both police and civil administrations working overtime to meet the expectations of the locals, mostly tribal. Malkangiri – Koraput – Vishakha Border Division operating under Andhra – Odisha – Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) of the CPI(Maoists) reportedly active in Machhkund, Nandpur, Padwa, Pottangi and Boipariguda Police Station areas of Koraput.
Since 2008 and till today, as many as 9 hardcore CPI (Maoist) cadres have been gun down by security men during combing opeartions in the district, 18 have been arrested and 1 cadre has surrendered. Both Odisha and Andhra Police are working in excellent coordination in the district to curtail CPI (Maoist) activities.Developmental activities are in full swing in the district in the sectors of road connectivity, digging of bore wells, health care, education, public distribution, etc.
The DGP interacted with the senior officers of the District Police and CAPFs and reviewed the security response as well as developmental activities going on in the area. He Interacted with Police Covid Warriors and field officers doing very good work and appreciated their good work. He issued appreciation certificates to Corona Warriors who promptly joined duty after recovery from Covid.
