IMPHAL/BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: BJP National VP Baijayant ‘Jay’ Panda on Tuesday said that the development of Manipur and entire North Eastern States are on top most priority list of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minster Amit Shah and the present NDA Government is working overtime to reach out to each corner of the Nation with fruits of development. BJP National VP Panda along with Chief Minister Biren Singh, Party’s National General Secretary Dilip Saikia, Party candidate N.Haokip campaigned at Saitu assembly constituency for coming bye polls and urged people to vote for BJP and development.
Manipur goes for by-polls in 5 Assembly Constituencies, namely Wangoi, Wangjing Tentha, Lilong, Saitu-ST and Singhat-ST assembly constituencies on November 7.The BJP has fielded 4 candidates in 4 assembly constituencies and will support ex-MLA Abdul Nasir who is contesting as an independent candidate from Lilong Assembly constituency. National VP Panda has been regularly travelling to Manipur to oversee the party’s campaigning and regularly briefing National president JP Nadda and National General secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh on party’s preparedness for the bye polls, sources in BJP said.
All the 5 seats were vacated by the Congress MLAs hours after the Biren led BJP government won the trust vote in August.13 seats are lying vacant in the 60 member legislative assembly of Manipur. The Election Commission of India had notified only 5 Assembly segments for by-polls, there are court cases pending to the remaining Assembly constituencies.
“Had a very busy day!!! Started the day off with an early morning flight to Imphal and upon landing headed straight away to campaigning for the Saitu assembly constituency with Hon CM N Biren Singh Ji, BJP Nat’l General Secretary Dilip Saikia BJP ji, candidate N.Haokip ji, MPs, MLAs, @PremanandaMeit1 & other BJP Manipur leaders. Then followed it by a meeting with party Karyakartas & padadhikaris to discuss overall campaign strategies and their roles with Nat’l GS Dilip Saikia ji, and party colleagues. Finally, ended the day by meeting the community women in Wangjing-Tentha,” Panda, a 4th times former MP, said.
“People started cheering very loudly with just the mentioning of PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s name. I spoke on PM’s resolve to develop Manipur & the NE. Also discussed HM Amit Shah Ji’s measures to improve security, and under Nat’l President J.P.Nadda Ji, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s huge service to people during Covid,” Panda added.
