BHUBANESWAR:Today is the 58th death anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the first organization editor of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, who was dedicated to national service. Today is being celebrated as Sunder Diwas by the Bharatiya Janata Party across the country, said Odisha’s popular Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi.

Attending the ‘Dedication Day-2026’ program organized at the state office on the occasion of the death anniversary of the great thinker and pioneer of Ektamanabhad Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Chief Minister Shri Majhi said that Pandit Deendayal Ji, who was born on September 25, 1916 in Nagahichandrabhan village, 25 km from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, dedicated his entire life to serving the nation. Pandit Deendayal Ji worked for the all-round development of the economically backward people. Pandit Deendayal Ji’s philosophy is the main basis behind the successful implementation of the work for the welfare of the poor.
His great aim was to promote Pandit Deendayal Ji’s philosophy of Ektamanabhad and the ideology of the upliftment of the last person in the society. The main goal of Ektamanavvad was to prove the greatness of Swadeshi ideology and Indian culture-based nationalism by expressing it in a concrete and factual sense. Pandit Deendayalji formulated the philosophy of Ektamanavvad to present the principles and principles of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. Deendayal’s Ektamanavvad is the best model for the upliftment of the poor. The conception and implementation of the Antyayoday philosophy is an unprecedented achievement of Pandit Deendayalji. Pandit Deendayalji worked for the all-round development of the backward people at the lowest rung of the economic ladder of society.
In 1985, the Bharatiya Janata Party adopted it as its ideological principle and placed it in the Panchanish. In recent times, former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the current successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi are working for the welfare of the country and its people based on this great philosophy. Successful Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also achieved a lot of success based on Deendayalji’s Antyodoy Parivar.
He has successfully implemented many welfare schemes, especially for the poor and economically backward people living in the country. The philosophy of Pandit Deendayalji is the main basis behind the successful implementation of poverty alleviation works such as giving priority to rural development, providing houses to the homeless poor, providing cheap electricity and drinking water to all, providing toilets and cooking gas to all houses, providing work and employment to all in the National Livelihood Mission, women empowerment etc. Chief Minister Shri Majhi said that the main purpose of Sandhu Diwas is to remember Deendayalji’s commitment to serving the poor and neglected people of the society in rural areas.
On this day of dedication, State President Shri Manmohan Samal said that Pandit Deendayal Ji was an extraordinary organizer. He is the founder of the Bharatiya Janata Sangh. He started value politics in India. When Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was sacrificed in Kashmir, Deendayal Upadhyay Ji took the party’s demand. He prepared Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the leader. Deendayal Upadhyay Ji was assassinated on February 11, 1968 at Mughal Sarai railway station. Before this, he had made the Jana Sangh victorious in 35 Lok Sabha seats in the country and brought 4 states to power. Deendayal Ji was a symbol of the strength of the nation, nationalism, patriotism and disciplined loyalty in national thought. Mughal Station is named after Deendayal Upadhyay Ji.
He has made our organization from a bush to a tree. He was a factory that made capable people. Based on his principles, the poor welfare schemes will be developed for the common people. Now 20 state governments and the central government are working to successfully implement this philosophy of Ektamanabhad. This dedication day is celebrated to remember the ideology of Ektamanabhad. Inspired by the principles, ideals and thoughts of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyayji, on this great day, we all take a resolution to work dedicatedly for the society. This will be our best tribute to Panditji, said State President Shri Samal.
State Coordinator of the Sandhu Day celebrations and State Vice President Shri Ashok Mishra shed light on cultural nationalism, dawn, clean democracy and the life of Deendayalji.
Many leaders and activists were present at the program held at the state office and paid tributes by offering floral tributes to Pandit Deendayalji’s portrait. On this occasion, the Honorable Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi launched the magazine ‘BJP Barta’.
