Decision to provide Cancer Treatment in Odisha should not be politicized

BARGARH: The State Cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 1001.14 crores for the development of Odisha Comprehensive Cancer Services to provide treatment to cancer patients. Within 2 years, 11 general cancer treatment units were established in District Head Hospitals Bargarh, Vimsar Burla, SLN Medical College and Hospital Koraput, MKCG Medical College and Hospital Berhampur, Shahid Rando Majhi Medical College and Hospital Bhavanipatna, Kalahandi, B. B. Medical College and Hospital Balangir, P. R. M Medical College and Hospital Baripada, F M Medical College and Hospital, Balasore, Dharanidhar Medical College and Hospital, Keonjhar, Government Medical College and Hospital, Talcher and Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar will be constructed.

These institutions will facilitate radiotherapy, brachytherapy, histopathology, oncology, chemotherapy and palliative care services. It has been decided to connect 50 to 100 beds with operation theatre, ICU, in each institution and arrange for future expansion if required. Along with this, the cabinet has decided that the posts of specialist, super specialist and professional staff will be created as regular cadre under the state government.

Fighters Group Trust, gave his response and said that the decision of the state cabinet are welcome. But treatment of diseases like cancer should not be politicized. He said If the government really makes arrangements to provide such facilities in cancer treatment then there is no need to go outside the state for better cancer treatment. .
