BHUBANESWAR: The day temperature is set to fall by 3 degrees C from Wednesday in parts of Odisha reducing the impact of the prevailing hot and humid weather, SOA’s Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) here said.
The discomfort caused by the prevailing weather will further wane in the state’s coastal and southern region from June 20, the CEC said.
This will cause the day temperature to be around 35 degrees C or less from that day, it said adding similar condition may prevail in western Odisha from June 22.
The Arabian branch of monsoon is likely to be strengthened from Tuesday with westerly wind flow which is expected to favour occurrence of pre-monsoon rain on June 18 and 19.
The onset of South West monsoon in south Odisha districts and Bhubaneswar is expected on June 20.
Light to moderate rain will occur in most of the districts of Odisha during this period. Further strengthening of Arabian branch of monsoon is likely from June 23 which will cause formation of cyclonic circulation in the north west Bay of Bengal on June 26 with probability of development of low pressure area in the bay off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coast on June 27. Rainfall may further increase from June 26 and continue till June 28, it said.
