Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited donates Rs 2 crore to CMRF

BHUBANESWAR/RAJGANGPUR: The Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited, subsidiary of Dalmia Bharat Group

 has contributed Rs 2 crore to Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), to strengthen Odisha’s fight against the COVID 19 pandemic, sources said on Tuesday.

A press release said the DCBL has also taken several initiatives to contain the pandemic and support the distressed persons affected by the 21-day nationwide lockdown to break the chain of deadly coronavirus.

The cement major has also taken measures to contain the outbreak of the deadly disease around plant locations at Rajgangpur in Sundargarh district and Biswali in Cuttack district, the release added.

Sunil Gupta, Regional Manufacturing Head, East, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited said: “In the wake of this unprecedented threat, we are totally committed to supporting the national and state governments in their fight to contain the spread of COVID-19. The authorities are doing an exceptional job and it is our endeavour to assist them with all possible means.”

The press release said as part of ongoing relief activities, the company has distributed dry food packets to over 900 needy families in villages near Biswali.

A week’s grocery has been provided to 650 needy families in and around Rajgangpur. The DCBL has also stepped up to help the stranded truck drivers, helpers and homeless, the release added.

Cooked food has been served to over 3000 such people. Furthermore, the company has teamed up with local MLA of Rajgangpur to feed 8800 local needy people.

The Dalmia Bharat Group had committed ₹ 25 crores to the PM-CARES Fund as part of its endeavour to assist the government’s massive efforts against the pandemic.

The group has already dedicated their schools, playgrounds, guest houses and technical centres across plants as facilities for tackling COVID-19 cases. The release said 4700 employees of the Group have also come forward by voluntarily pledging their one day’s salary – collectively amounting to ₹ 1.6 crores – to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
