BHUBANESWAR: The Indian Metrological Department on Friday issued fresh bulletin and forecasted that depression intensified into Deep Depression over westcentral adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal at 0530 IST of 3rd Dec 2021. To intensify into a Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours & reach north Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast by Saturday morning.
The Special Relief Commissioner, PK Jena has alerted as many 17 Collectors of Costal districts while 225 Independent teams of NDRF, ODRAF, Fire Services and Civil Defence have been deployed in Odisha in view of cyclone Jawad.
SRC reviewed the preparations and informed that Fisheries Department has imposed fishing ban in sea and Chilika lake from 3rd to 5th Dec. fisher folks requested to follow the advisory for safety. Coastal villages to remain watchful for storm surge, SRC added.
Teams moved. Other arrangements were being made by districts. Farmers continuously being advised on crops. All fishermen are back to coast, SRC Jena said.
The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over southeast BoB moved W-NWwards, concentrated into a Depression & lay centered at 1730 hrs IST of Thursday, over southeast BoB near Lat. 11.0°N &Long. 89.0°E, abt 960 km S-SEof Vishakhapatnam, 1020 km S-SE of Gopalpur & 1060 km S-SE of Paradip.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that low pressure region in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into Cyclone Jawad and is expected to reach coast of North Andhra Pradesh – Odisha around morning of Saturday 4th December 2021, with the wind speed ranging upto 100 kmph. It is likely to cause heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha & W.Bengal. IMD has been issuing regular bulletins with the latest forecast to all the concerned States.
Indian Coast Guard and the Navy have deployed ships and helicopters for relief, search and rescue operations. Air Force and Engineer task force units of Army, with boats and rescue equipment, are on standby for deployment. Surveillance aircraft and helicopters are carrying out serial surveillance along the coast. Disaster Relief teams and Medical Teams are standby at locations along the eastern coast.
