BHUBANESWAR/PHULABANI: Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra flanked by 5T Secretary V K Pandian , Works Secretary Dr Krishan Kumar and along with high-level team of officials visited Kandhamal to review progress of construction of the Medical College and Hospital in Phulbani. The move came following the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The project with 100 seats for Medical college & 500 beds for Hospital to cost ₹450Cr with expected 30-month completion period. Campus to have 300-seat boys hostel, 150-seat girls hostel, 100-seat resident doctors’ hostel, 650-capacity auditorium & quarters for doctors, staff.
The high-level team also visited AJO Govt High School & Govt Girls’ High School, selected under high school transformation initiative as part of #MoSchool campaign. It was decided to execute development works like smart classroom, library, sports facilities, etc in the schools.
Special Secretary to CMO R Vineel Krishna and other senior officials were also in the High Level Team, where Engineer- In- Chief Bijaya Chandra Tripathy briefed Top Officials about the progress.
While visiting across the State, Special Secretary CMO R Vineel Krishna is keeping track of development process and monitoring feedback mechanism of Mo Sarkar, said sources.
The State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister, Patnaik had approved the proposal in December 2020 to set up a Medical College in Phulbani. The medical college at Phulbani will have 100 seats and hospital with 500 beds. The project has been taken up at a cost of Rs 450 crores and is expected to be completed within 30 months.
Chief Secretary directed the District Administration to provide all support especially the availability of construction material for timely completion of the project.He appreciated the beautiful location for the project and suggested that plantation to be taken up in the adjacent hills and the water resources department to plan for the drainage systems and water conservation structures.
5T Secretary Pandian suggested facilities for the attendants of the patients like accommodation and food facilities.He further suggested that doctors and staff staying in the campus should have proper ecosystem for working and residential facilities for the families including recreational and sports activities. The traffic flows should be planned properly including the auto and taxi stands and alternative alignment for NH in front of the site to avoid accidents.
The campus will have facilities for 300 seated boys hostel, 150 seated girls hostel, 650 capacity auditorium, 100 seated Resident doctors hostel, quarter for doctors and staff.
The High level team, thereafter, visited the AJO Government high school and Government Girls high school Phulbani. Both the schools have been selected under the High School Transformative initiative as part of Mo School campaign.
Chief Secretary Mohapatra and 5T Secretary Pandian interacted with the teachers, alumni, school management committee and students. Based on their feedback, it was decided to take up various school development activities like smart classroom, library, infrastructure development, sports facilities etc.
Collector Brundha D and SP Vinit Agarwal briefed about various issues of the district.In view of the COVID-19 situation, the District Administration was directed to be alert and enforce strictly the Pandemic precautions protocol.
