BHUBANESWAR: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Odisha State committee believes that the death of a Nepali student in KIIT/KIIT University hostel is an organized murder. CPI(M) State Secretary Suresh Chandra Panigrahi, State Editor, CPI(M), Senior Leader Janardan Pati, State Editor Dushmant Kumar Das, Pushpa Das and Bhubaneswar Regional Committee Editor Pradipta Nayak The senior leaders were among those in the delegation.
The following claim has been specifically presented on behalf of CPI(M) on the entire unavoidable incident of KIIT University.
1) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Odisha State Committee strongly believes that the death of a Nepali student in KIIT/KIIT University hostel is an organized murder. KIIT/KIIT administration has taken very inhuman and repressive steps after this brutal incident, like declaring “sign die” only for Nepali students, physically attacking them and forcefully leaving them in various railway stations through buses. This heinous activity is done by the KIIT/KIIT administration in the hands of the police.
2) It is very worrying that senior female staff of KIIT University has made insulting and ridiculing comments regarding GDP and budget of Nepal, which has broken the morale with more insults on Nepali students. In addition, the police only arrested the accused in a drama and released the accused on bail within a short period of time, raising serious questions on law enforcement and the fairness of the police administration.
3) KIIT University is an institution where thousands of students are studying. As per the recommendation of Burma Committee after the Nirbhaya incident, has KIIT/KIIT formed the Complaint Committee against Internal Sexual Harassment (ICC)? And is this committee functional or not? This needs to be investigated.
4) Since there is no student union on campus, students are not able to discuss their grievances and demands.
To understand the problems of the students, the investigation should be covered. The way a commercial technical education institution KIIT/KIIT has increased its dominance in this situation, how the state government controls it should be investigated. Due to the extreme compassion and encouragement of BJD and BJP governments in this institution, it is natural that the administrative investigation process will be suspicious in the minds of the public.
5) According to the allegations, the accused in the death of Nepali girl student is the son of a BJP leader from Uttar Pradesh. The veracity of this allegation should be initiated by investigation. KIIT Univertsity’s top management authority and the top officials of administration are primarily responsible for this serious situation. Then the state government and the police administration are also responsible, because all the incidents have happened under their knowledge.
Let the whole incident be investigated to get justice for the victims and students. Here the security of students has created a question mark. The dignity of the country and the state has been damaged due to the unethical activities of the Kit University authorities. There is a honeymoon between KIIT, State Administration, Police and Government.
In this background CPI(M) has demanded for a judicial investigation/judicial inquiry into this injustice and the entire crime. This should be under the direct supervision of a working judge of the High Court.
