BHUBANESWAR: After paying a visit to KIMS here, 5T Secretary V Kartikeyan Pandian was on Sunday visited SOA University here and took stock of the situation for setting up a 500 Bedded Special Covid Hospital.
Pandian and Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and Principal Secretary Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Saurabh Garg talked with SOA group chairman Dr Manoj Nayak.
Besides Chairman Dr Nayak, SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital Dr. Pushparaj Samantasinghar, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Rajesh Lenka, Director of ITER Prof. Manas K. Mallick and SOA’s Dean (Students’ Welfare) Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Das were present during the visit.
This new Health Care Facility is being set up at Campus-II of SOA University here. The Special Hospital, which will become functional within a fortnight, will exclusively treat Covid-19 patients, SOA University sources said.
Odisha Government on 26 March signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital to set up a 500-bedded Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) Hospital here to take care of the patients as virus is spreading its tentacles.
The MoU was signed by Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare, Nikunja Bihari Dhal, senior official of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) S S Panda and the Medical Superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital, Dr. Pushparaj Samantasinghar.
While MCL will fund the new facility, IMS and SUM Hospital will provide patient care, critical care, doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, laboratory, radiological, ICU and other support.
