Coronavirus forces Odisha Speaker to suspend House till March 29

BHUBANESWAR: With Coronavirus fear gripping entire globe, Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro on Friday suspended the Assembly proceeding till March 29 in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

The House will assemble next on March 30. BJD chief whip Pramila Mallik proposed to suspend the Assembly business till March 30 following which the ruling from the chair came.

Though the Opposition BJP opposed the motion, the proposal was supported by the members of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress MLAs. Though the Opposition BJP opposed the motion.

Besides, Odisha Chief Minister’s grievance cell and joint grievance cells at the district level will remain closed till March 31. People can send their grievances online.
