BHUBANESWAR/NEW DELHI: Union PNG-Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday morning written a letter to Union Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Pralhad Joshi seeking his intervention to convert MCL Talcher hospital to COVID-19 hospital with ICU facility.
Union PNG-Steel Minister Pradhan suggested that in view of the increasing COVID-19 cases in Angul, it is now necessary to have a special COVID-19 hospital at Talcher area. Apart from ICU facility, Pradhan demanded 100 ventilator facilities at MCL-Talcher.
Pradhan said, at present 453 COVID-19 active cases reported from Angul while every day, near about 80 people has been identified as new cases. During the COVID-19 fist surge, with 144 beds and 6 ICU, MCL Talcher Hospital worked as COVID-19 hospital and with fresh surge, Ministry should take steps for 100 ventilators, Pradhan wrote to Joshi.
“I therefore seek your personal intervention in declaring NSCH , MCL as COVID-19 Hospital with ICU facilities and also issuing necessary permission to officials of MCL for making arrangement for 100 ventilators at the hospital in order to provide medical are to the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 patients in Angul,”Pradhan added.
