BHUBANESWAR: Bhubaneswar, March 4: As technology seeks to transform the industry scenario as never before, GenNext managers have to continuously upgrade their skills to meet the new requirement, a senior journalist said.

“Industry 4.0 comes with new requirements and technological innovations seek to make the present job structure redundant which will make it imperative for new age managers to upgrade their skills,” Mr. Bijoy Ketan Mishra, Resident Editor of Political and Business Daily, said while addressing the inaugural function of ‘Convergence-2023’, the two-day annual function of Institute of Business and Computer Studies (IBCS), faculty of management of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), here.

“You need to modify your skill to be industry ready,” Mr. Mishra, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said.

India, he said, had failed to capitalize during the first and second industrial revolutions as it was under colonial rule and lacked electricity when it happened in that order. But it had gained marginally during the third industrial revolution as it had an educated population, Mr. Mishra said.

Presently, with a large percentage of the country’s population job ready, India must not miss the bus this time, he said adding the challenge would be to convert the workforce into smart workers and embrace the fast changes in technology.

Dr. Siddharth MIshra, Medical Superintendent of AMRI Hospitals, who attended as the guest of honour, urged the students to work hard. “Success is not an accident, you have to work hard to achieve it,” he said.

Prof. Bijay Kumar Sahoo, Vice-Chancellor of SOA, Prof. Anup Samantaray, Dean of IBCS, and Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare) also addressed the students. Prof. Ayasanta Mohanty, Professor, coordinated the program while Dr. Sarju Prasad, Associate Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
