CUTTACK: In protest against the alleged defamatory remarks against him on November 30 last year, Barabarti-Cuttack Congress MLA Mohammed Moquim on Friday filed a criminal defamation suit against BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra at the SDJM Court here.
Moquim stated in his petition that Patra had told the media that all the nine Congress MLAs of the State received money from the ruling BJD for keeping quiet on the Pari murder case.
This has damaged his reputation severely.He has further stated in his prayer before the court that the allegation is baseless and was made with malicious intention. To give an opportunity to Patra to withdraw his statement, he had sent a legal notice to Patra on December 7 last seeking his unconditional apology at the earliest, but Patra did not respond.
