BHUBANESWAR: BJP Leader Maneka Gandhi led People for Animal(PFA) has expressed its concern for stray animals in view of complete lockdown of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak.
In a press release, PFA Odisha State chief JB Das said the 21 days lockdown due to CIVID19 all the food sources of stray Animals like Hotels, Hostels, Tourist spots etc closed and the animals and birds depending on these sources now starving without food and water. Govt. of India include fodder/Feeds, Veterinary services under “Essential services” and our Prime Minister Narendra Modi also appealed to care of Animals starving due to lockdown.
“Odisha also exempted fodder/feed, feeding of animals during lockdown. But when Govt. of Odisha declare 48 hours curfew from 03.04.2020 8 pm to 05.04.2020 8 pm not exempted the essential services for Animal and birds like Veterinary services, Fodder/feed transport, Feeding for the animals and birds starving. The Animal and birds have life and they need food to survive. The decision of Govt may take many innocent lives of Animal and Birds without food and water during curfew. I raised my voice for the voiceless as they can’t speak and appealed to govt. but till now Govt. is silent,” Das said.
Man can keep their food ready but how animals can do this. They only wait when someone will come and feed. At this moment when animals and birds are starving Govt. not allowing feed them during curfew which many cause mass death of Animals and birds and we have to challenge another disaster. Since 24th of March we have been feeding animals and birds in and around Bhubaneswar and campus of various institutions and found dogs, Cattle, Monkeys and birds starving those who have been depending on hostels and all other food sources. Govt. imposed curfew for the welfare humans, he said.
But where the animals and birds will go for food if curfew will be applicable for them. No vehicle, feeder, Veterinary staffs are allowed to take care of Animals and birds instead of our constitution provisioned that it is the fundamental duty of Every Citizen of India to have Compassionate to all living creatures. This attitude of Govt. towards animals and birds is a clear sign of cruelty when are depending on us for survival. This planet earth not only belongs to human being but also for all other living creatures. We all know if there will no animals, birds we also can’t survive.
So Govt. should make provision for feeding and care of animals and birds during lockdown, curfew and allow registered animals welfare organisations, volunteers, vets, para vets for providing food and vet services to the animals suffering due to lockdown. It is very much essential for the survival of mute creatures and govt. should address the issue urgently and so that our animals and birds can be saved, he added.
