BHUBANESWAR: The name of the person who killed him is Deepak Rout. He is also a constable. But he works as a clerk in the office of the Police Commissioner in Bhubaneswar. The Commissionerate Police has arrested Deepak.
Deepak had murdered Constable Subhammitra Sahu on the evening of the 6th. After killing him in Bhubaneswar, Deepak had taken his body in his car and buried it in a forest in Ghatgaon, Keonjhar district. It is learnt that he had told the police during interrogation that he had killed Constable Subhammitra Sahu for Rs 20 lakh.
It is also known that Subhamitra and Deepak were married in court. They were married in court on July 7, 2024. This came to light when Deepak was questioned by the police. The police have also obtained the marriage certificates of both of them.
Deepak was married before. Police have learnt that his first wife died in an accident. Deepak had taken an insurance policy of Rs 1 crore in his first wife’s name. Therefore, the case of his first wife’s death has now become suspicious. The Commissionerate Police is investigating the murder of Subhamitra as well as the death of Deepak’s first wife.
A team of Commissionerate police has taken the accused Deepak to Ghatgaon. There, along with the scene recreation, the body of Subhamitra will be exhumed. Deepak had buried her there after killing her in Bhubaneswar.
On the 6th, Subhamitra went on duty and returned to her rented house at 7 pm. But since then, her mobile phone has been switched off. Since she could not be contacted for two days, her father went to the DCP office in Bhubaneswar to inquire. However, since the girl’s address could not be found, he registered a missing person case at the Capital police station.
The Commissionerate Police took the incident seriously and assigned a special squad to search for Subhamitra. After the special squad checked Subhamitra’s call details, the Commissionerate police suspected Deepak Raut, who works in the police. After questioning him for a marathon, it was revealed that he confessed to the police.
