JHARSUGUDA/BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the Odisha Crime Branch has been directed to probe into the incident of firing at Odisha Health Minister Naba Das in Brajrajnagar area of Jharsuguda district.
The agency has been asked to take up the investigation of the case. Senior officers of the Crime Branch have been directed to go to the spot, the CM said.
“I am shocked at the unfortunate incident of attack on honourable minister Shri Naba Das. I strongly condemn the attack on him. I pray for his early recovery.”
Meanwhile, Odisha Health Minister Naba Das who sustained injuries after Police ASI Gopal Das fired at him at at the Gandhi Chhak police outpost in Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda, has been airlifted to Bhubaneswar for further treatment. A special air ambulance has left Jharsuguda Airport for Bhubaneswar, sources said.
The accused cop Das, was immediately nabbed and then detained by police for questioning. He was serving as an ASI at the Gandhi Chhak police outpost in Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda.
The reason behind the extreme act by the ASI was yet to be known, the SDPO, Brajarajnagar, Gupteswar Bhoi, said. The ASI used his service revolver to fire at the minister, the SDPO added.
Minister Das , one of the powerful crorepati BJD leader from State’s western part on Sunday, shot on his chest by the ASI at in Brajrajnagar of Jharsuguda district.
Minister Das, sustained bullet injuries after the ASI fired at him while he was rushed to hospital.
The incident took place near Gandhi Chhak here when he alighted from car to attend a programme and his supporters were garlanding him.
