BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha Cricket Association President Pankaj Lochan Mohanty and Mines Ministry Navaratna CPSU, NALCO, have congratulated Indian Batsman, Shiv Sundar Das on being chosen as Batting Coach of Indian Women’s Cricket Team.
“Congratulations Shiv Sunder Das on being appointed as Batting Coach of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team. May the team flourish under his mentorship and bring laurels for the country,” Naveen Patnaik tweeted @Naveen_Odisha.
“I congratulated Shiv Sundar and we all in OCA and entire Odisha feel proud for this,” said OCA President and MGM Minerals Limited Chairman, Pankaj Lochan Mohanty. OCA President Moahnty hoped that Shiv Sundar’s achievement will encourage many sports talents in Odisha.

Shiv Sunder Das has been appointed as the batting coach of the Indian women’s team. The former India opener, a known hand in India’s women’s cricket set-up, was a last minute pick and was learnt to have been recommended by Indian Cricket head Rahul Dravid. The 43-year-old Das will now travel to England where the women’s team will play one Test, three ODIs and as many Twenty20 Internationals.
Das, who was attached to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore, had been associated with the women’s cricket as the head coach of the India A and Emerging women’s sides and had toured Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Australia in 2019-2020. Many members of the current side, including Priya Punia, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma had played under him in these tours.
