BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated former Indian cricketer from Odisha, Debashish Mohanty on being appointed as a national selector by Board of Control for Cricket in India. Chief Minister Patnaik wished  Mohanty a successful tenure in this important position.

Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) President Pankaj Luchan Mohanty while expressing his happiness, has also wished successful tenure to Mohanty. OCA President Mohanty also thanked BCCI for picking Mohanty in National selection panel. 45 year old Debashish Mohanty played 2 Tests and 45 ODIs for India.

Former India speedsters Mohanty, Chetan Sharma and Abey Kuruvilla have been added to the senior national selection panel, and they will replace Sarandeep Singh, Jatin Paranjape, and Devang Gandhi, whose tenures ended in September.

Sharma, 54, will be chairman of the five-man panel. The CAC, comprising Madan Lal, Rudra Pratap Singh, and Sulakshana Naik,  met virtually and conducted interviews to select 3 including Mohanty members of the senior selection committee. The trio will join former India left-arm spinner Sunil Joshi and pace bowler Harvinder Singh who were picked as selectors in March.
