BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: In the valedictory session of the 62nd Senior Police Officers’ Conference, 2020, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, attended the programme virtually as Chief Guest and addressed the delegates. Chief Minister Patnaik commended Odisha for effectively managing the law and order situation and for handling the Corona Pandemic situation with compassion and empathy. He paid homage to 48 Corona Warriors who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Hon’ble CM also commended the 930 Police personnel who have voluntarily donated plasma for treatment of critical covid patients.
Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction in the drive against countering LWE. He remembered the two brave Police personnel who were martyred this year in anti-naxal operation.Appreciating the effort of Odisha Police in the drive against narcotic drugs with record seizure of drugs.
Emphasizing the need to check crime against women and children he announced the creation of a special wing in Odisha Police to exclusively look after offences against women and children.Patnaik called upon the Senior Police Officers to address low conviction rates, ensure better actions in the area of road safety, and ensure quality services and be caring and sensitive to the victims and their families and provide justice to all sections.
The highlight of the day was the inauguration of six Police Stations namely Angul Sadar P.S in Angul district, Bharatpur P.S in UPD Bhubaneswar, Sadar P.S in Jharsuguda district, Belaguntha P.S in Ganjam district, Sabrang P.S and Pirahat P.S in Bhadrak district.
Chief Secretary, Asit Tripathy, Development Commissioner, Suresh Mohapatra, Principal Secretary Home Sanjiv Chopra., and Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Ashok Meena, interacted with the delegates on various issues and challenges relevant to contemporary policing. Earlier in the day, Presentation & deliberation on “Stress Management in Police” and Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) as a 5T initiative were held.
