BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday began his district visit to witness paddy and other crops damaged in the recent unseasonal rainfall in the state. CM Majhi started his visit from Ranpur in Nayagarh , where Speaker Surama Padhi, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, District Collector and other officials were among those present.
CM Majhi said, District Collectors have been directed to hold talks with the affcetd farmers and take necessary steps as soon as possible to resolve the problem and provide compensation.
CM further said that the farmers who have taken out the insurance are requested to report the same on the helpline no 14447 from their registered no.
CM Majhi along with Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari later visited Gosani block of Gajapati and is also expected to travel to Raneilunda and Chhatrapur block of Ganjam district.
Chairing a high-level meeting to review the situation, the Chief Minister had directed agriculture officials to ensure that all farmers affected by the unseasonal rains get financial assistance and asked them to submit an assessment report by December 30. After receiving the report, the assistance money would be directly credited into the bank accounts of the farmers, he said.
Around 1.26 lakh farmers have so far informed about the losses and damage of their crop under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
