BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday congratulated newly elected Speaker of Odisha Assembly, Pramila Mallick, who became first woman to occupy the prestigious post.
The six-time MLA Mallick, who currently represents, Binjharpur Assembly seat in Jajpur, had contested the State assembly election for the first time in 1990 on a Janata Dal ticket. Later, she won the elections in 2000, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019 on the BJD ticket.
‘ଓଡ଼ିଶାର ପ୍ରଥମ ମହିଳା ବାଚସ୍ପତି ଭାବେ ଦାୟିତ୍ୱ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିବା ଶ୍ରୀମତି ପ୍ରମିଳା ମଲ୍ଲିକଙ୍କୁ ମୋର ଶୁଭେଚ୍ଛା ଜଣାଉଛି। ପବିତ୍ର ଗୃହର ଗରିମା ଅକ୍ଷୁର୍ଣ୍ଣ ରଖିବା ସହ ସାମ୍ବିଧାନିକ ପଦ ମର୍ଯ୍ୟାଦା ପ୍ରତି ସମ୍ମାନ ରଖି ତାଙ୍କ ଉତ୍ତମ ଗୃହ ପରିଚାଳନା ଗଣତନ୍ତ୍ରକୁ ଆହୁରି ମଜଭୁତ କରିବ ବୋଲି ମୋର ବିଶ୍ୱାସ।, CM Patnaik said in an X post.

A new chapter will be written in the political history of Odisha with this development. We extend our gratitude to HCM @Naveen_Odisha for being on the forefront on #WomenEmpowerment and ensuring greater participation for women in every sphere,” BJD MP Manas Mangaraj said.
