BARGARH: Cancer in children is indeed rare, but it is important to pay more attention to early detection and effective treatment in this area. In this way, the chances of childhood cancer cure can be greatly increased. Today, a program related to childhood cancer awareness was organized for the first time in Bargarh District by Ummiden, Bhubaneswar and Bargarh Cancer Survivors Fighters Group.
In today’s program, various doctors expressed their views and informed that, according to the Indian Cancer Society statistics, every year in India, more than 50,000 new children are diagnosed with cancer. The survival rate of child cancer victims in India is around 40 percent. But the survival rate in some cancers is 80-90% higher in the West. Conservative estimate of survival is 70%, it is certainly a matter of happiness that many surviving children join the population every year.
The age range for childhood cancer treatment can vary, but generally it covers children from birth to 14 years of age or sometimes up to 18 years of age.
Childhood cancer awareness, screening and quality healthcare are essential to improving survival and providing better outcomes for affected children and their families.
It is clear that social and family support plays an important role in the treatment of childhood cancer victims in India. Such joint efforts can be helpful in overcoming various challenges faced by the victim. For this, the experts present informed that it is very important for health workers, family members, social support professionals and organizations to be more aware.
It’s evident that social support plays a crucial role in improving childhood cancer care in India. Collaborative efforts between support groups can be instrumental in addressing various challenges, such as treatment denial, abandonment, and long waiting times. Working together to enhance services and resources can have a positive impact on the situation.
In this program Bargarh District Medical Officer Dr. Jitendra Bebarta, Founder of Sohela Jeevan Jyoti and former Minister Prakash Chandra Debata, Dr. Shishir Sahu, Sohela Health Center Specialist Dr. Swastik Sahu, Dr. Brahmānand Sarangi, Dr. Ghanshyam Natha Social activist Anil Pradhan, Sushant Mishra expressed their views on the major problems and needs of pediatric cancer treatment.
Similarly, regarding the usefulness of such a program in the fight against childhood cancer, Bhubaneswar based Social Organization Ummedein’s Chairman Nitaigoura Panigrahi, Fighters Group Group’s Chairman Aswini Kumar Darjee gave information. All the health workers, volunteers and Anganwadi helpers of Sohela Health Center participated in this awareness program. Sk Md Ghaznabi and Rajendra Sabar organized the programme.
