BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched ‘112’ helpline number as part of the Emergency Response Support System. Citizens can now dial 112 during distress to avail police, fire, health, disaster and other emergency services. CM said it will benefit all, especially women and elderly persons.
Chief Minister Patnaik also inaugurated the state-of-the-art State Emergency Response Centre and flagged off the Emergency Response Vehicles fitted with Mobile Data Terminals. Odisha Government has allocated ₹ 157 Cr and created 2500 posts for the project.
With the introduction of new response system, existing emergency numbers will be integrated into unified toll free number ‘112’ in phased manner. It will provide round the clock service after receiving inputs through voice calls, SMS, emails, panic-SOS and through 112 India App.
