BHUBANESWAR/BHADRAK: However, the Crime Branch is yet to recover the memory chip because of which Manas Swain was murdered. The agency is yet to make any headway in its investigation regarding the memory chip.
The Chandbali JMFC Court on Sunday allowed the Crime Branch to take prime accused Sarmistha and her associate Jhuna on a three-day remand period for further probe into the murder case of cameraman Manas Swain.
The court, on the other hand, rejected the bail plea of two other accused— former OIS officer Niranjan Sethi and Ranjan Nayak and sent them to judicial custody.
The Crime Branch produced the four accused— Sarmistha, Niranjan, Jhuna, and Ranjan before the Chandbali JMFC court after their 5-day remand period ended today.
Both, Sarmistha and Jhuna will be again produced before the court by 1 pm of 7th April.
Former Odisha Information Service (OIS) Officer Niranjan Sethi confessed to his involvement in the crime before the State Crime Branch of Odisha Police.
