Centenarians of Bargarh Felicitated with Satayu Samman

BARGARH/BHUBANESWAR: Most of the village people who promoted to Centenarians from Bargarh district were honored by Bargarh Health Education Foundation and Purohit General Hospital & Research Center. Among the Centenarian are 101-year-old Sukumari Jhankar of Atabira Jamtikra village, 108-year-old Pan Dash of Bheden Dhubenpali village, 108-year-old Jaladhar Padhan of Amabhana block Tumgaon, 102-year-old Sushila Sahu of Manpur village, Bijpur block, 101-year-old Phul Mahanand of Kharmunda village, Bijpur block, 101 of Kalapani village, Bargarh block. Basiya Sita Naik, 104-year-old Dwarikanath Sahu of Sohela Block Tabada, 102-year-old Sumitra Padhan of Sohela Block Jhar Village, 108-year-old Shivani Bariha of Bargarh Block Bhundubhal Village, 106-year-old Balmati Bagh of Paikmal Block Jharmunda Village, 103-year-old Sunaya Bal of Melchhamunda Village, Padmapur Block. 102-year-old Ratni Pashayat of Padmapur Jagdalpur, 103-year-old Renuka Badapanda of Sonepur district Babupali village living in Bargarh were promoted.

Apart from this, 102-year-old Sagun Dunguri of Babupali village, 105-year-old Usha Padhan of Satbandh village, Bijepur block, and 105-year-old Sukunu Rana of Bijepur Laumunda came to the stage due to physical weakness. Dr. Minketan Kar, retired dean of Bula Medical College attended the event as the Chief guest, Dr. Pradeep Naik, Head of Department of Biotechnology, Sambalpur University, prominent cartoonist Rasraj Achyut Purohit of Balangir, environmentalist Jethu Bhoi, Senior Journalist Surendra Hota, Ranjan Debta were the spekers. The program was conducted under the coordination of Meenakshi Hota.

Eminent vocalist Ms. Astha Mohapatra presented the welcome music. Participating in the discussion, the critics commented that why only Odisha has such a centennial development program rare in the whole of India. The presence of so many Shatayu in Bargarh district at a time when the population of Shatayu is very low in the whole world has created an opportunity for research. Among the raised Shatayu, only two are males while all the others are females. Similarly, the number of Shatayu is higher in the rural areas of the non-irrigated areas than in the irrigated areas of the district and in the urban areas of the district. Not even one was found to be a centenarian.

Apart from this, it was found that all the promoted Shatayus were economically weak, did not consume any kind of drugs, and did not take medical medicines. Organiser Dr. Rama Krushna Purohit said people living long has strong gene for slow ageing. thin build, hardworking, tensionless disease-free people. They eat more wholesome ( Dhan-Kuta) rice, wheat flour, vegetarian than non veg diet, less poultry diet, natural oils, olive oil, naturally available fruit and, sleep well, Non-alcoholic, non smoker, village environment is better for long life than town.

These centenarians enjoy disease free long life. We can also try to slow our ageing from bad environment. Dr. Purohit said they would go to their house next time who unable to do so. Mrs. Mamata Purohit, General Manager of Purohit General Hospital gave vote of thanks.
