BHUBANESWAR:A cake mixing event was recently organized at the School of Hotel Management, run by Education and Research (SOM), in anticipation of the big day.
Mrs. Upasana Nayak, Distinguished Member, Board of Directors, SOAR, graced the occasion as the chief guest. She said that such a joyful event would instill a positive attitude among the students while also joining in the cake mixing ceremony.
Sikkim’s make-up artist Mr. Ethen Sailesh Pradhan joined the event and explained the main purpose of starting this cake mixing preparation.
This traditional cake-making event began in Europe in the 1700s and is considered an auspicious time and a harbinger of joy. He said that it is easier to make cakes during this time because there is a large amount of fruit and nut crops being produced.
This traditional Christmas cake or Christmas pudding uses a large amount of dry fruits, eggs and flour. Many cakes are filled with dry fruits, cherries, fruits, cranberries, dates and various drinks.
To maintain this tradition, the students of SHM celebrated this festival. Present on the occasion were Professor Anup Kumar Samantraya, Vice Chancellor of SOAR, Shri Lipan Patra, Food and Beverage Manager of The Crown IHCL Selah Hotel, Shri Rajendra Kumar Nayak, Chairman of Ambedkar College, Professor (Dr.) Zarwalata Mishra, Krishna Institute of Management Sciences, Assistant Professor Smriti Rekha Sahu, Rajdhani College, Retired Chairman of Patiya College, Professor Trilochan Rath, and Dean of SHM, Professor Sushant Ranjan Chaini.
Shubham Mohanty, a second year student of BHM CT, SHM, hosted the event. Faculty and students of SHM were present at the event.
