NEW DELHI/BHUBANESWAR/ROURKELA: With Dharmendra Pradhan heading the Union Steel Ministry with PNG, efforts are on to resume operations by Bisra Stone Lime Company Limited (BSLC), a subsidiary of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.
BSLC has been mining and marketing limestone and dolomite in Sundargarh district since 1910. It has been an important source of economic activity and livelihood in the tribal dominated region.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting convened by Pradhan in the presence of Minister of State for Steel Faggan Singh Kulaste, Sundargarh MP Jual Oram, Biramitrapur MLA Shankar Oram and senior officials of the Steel Ministry, SAIL and RINL.
The BSLC had ceased operations this month due to a cash crunch. “We took a serious note of the issue and expeditiously called this meeting. SAIL and RINL have agreed to provide trade advance to BSLC and assured purchase of dolomite for immediate resumption of its mining activities,” said Pradhan.
