MALKANGIRI/BHUBANESWAR: On the basis of specific information, on 10th July 2023, the BSF troops of 142 Bn BSF carried out an Operation in the general area of Gomphakonda Reserve Forest.
During search in the targeted area, the Ops party located an old Maoist dump in the Gomphakonda Reserve Forest , near village Marigetta, GP Bodigetta under PS limits of Kalimela in Malkangiri district, Odisha. BSF has been carrying out relentless Operations in highly Naxal affected districts of Malkangiri and Koraput in South Odisha. Such recoveries would certainly dent Maoist strategy and dampen their spirits to take on evergrowing dominance of Security Forces.
Earlier this area used to be highly influenced by Maoists and their sympathisers. The Maoist outfits would keep IED making materials in isolated and secluded places to prepare IEDs to be used against the SFs/Police operating in these areas. BSF is actively operating in Malkangiri district and extensively dominating the area. In the wake of recovery, further combing and search operations would continue to make the area safe for SFs as well as locals.
Following IED making materials and Maoist related items unearthed from the site:-
Electric detonators, 25 Nos., Safety fuse, 04 Bdls(01 Bdl approx. 4.5 Mtrs), Gelatin sticks 108 Nos, Improvised Hand grenade 20 Nos. (Additional filling cap 11 Nos.), Naxal’s synthetic belt, 10 Nos Stars (Rank) & whistles, 09 Pairs + 09 Whistles, Naxal’s literature, 02 Books., Cast iron hand press machine 01 No.
