CUTTACK/BHUBANESWAR: Amid a spectacular crowd over 50,000 at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack , with dance and music by Bollywood and local stars and singers on Wednesday marked the beginning of the week long Men’s Hockey World Cup, matches for which will start from January 13 at Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, IB, Anurag Thakur attended the inaugural ceremony at Cuttack.
The CM welcomed all the guests and thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government for continuous support in organizing the great event.
Bollywood stars like Ranveer Singh, Disha Patani, singer and composer Pritam and many other were performing various musical and dance shows.
FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup is scheduled to begin on January 13, which would be played at Bhubaneswar Kalinga Stadium and Birsa Munda Stadium in the Steel City Rourkela. As many as 16 international teams from across the world are participating in the event, here in Odisha.
