“Bodhan AI” will simplify the education process – Dharmendra Pradhan

BHUBANESWAR:Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today highlighted India’s potential in the field of education and technology at the ‘Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave’ held in New Delhi. Reiterating the Prime Minister’s resolve to make India an ‘AI leader’, he stressed on the extensive use of Artificial Intelligence in the education sector.

Shri Pradhan said that the Ministry of Education has launched ‘Bodhan AI’ to make the learning process easier and more effective. It will help teachers and provide personalized learning to students. AI should not be limited to English language only but should be available in Indian languages. This will enable even the most marginalized students in rural areas to easily understand complex topics in their mother tongue. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has called for making India ‘AI-Ready’. He has also emphasized on the development and application of ethical, responsible and inclusive AI. India’s AI will be inclusive in its own way, collaborative in its structure and sovereign in its capabilities. We need to bring AI into education to empower students and support teachers. I urge all stakeholders to develop a scalable, responsible, ethical, inclusive and India-centric sovereign AI model to transform education and achieve the goals of a developed India.

An MoU has been signed between IIT Bombay and Columbia University in the US. Through this, a joint research center will be set up for the use of AI in the manufacturing sector. The minister has called for enhancing the skills of teachers through AI and simplifying new curricula. The government’s goal is to build a digital public infrastructure for the country’s 30 crore students and crores of teachers in the coming days. He further said that the contribution of AI to the Indian economy is likely to reach $ 1.7 trillion by 2035. The Union Minister said that AI is not just a technology, but it is a powerful means to fulfill India’s ‘Aspirational India’ or the aspirations of human resources.

On this occasion, he praised the country’s talent by giving the example of the ‘Bhatri’ (tribal language) AI model developed by a youth from Odisha.
