BERHAMPUR: A block workshop was organized in Rangeliunda Block, Ganjam district, as part of the Youth for Social Development and UNICEF’s voluntary initiatives on Monday . The workshop marked the making of a Child-Friendly block, bringing together representatives from 32 gram panchayats in Rangeliunda Block.
In this meeting Sarpanchas, Panchayat Samiti Members, Panchayat Executive Officer, Child Development Project Officer(CDPO), Gram Panchayat Extension Officer, Block Education Officer, Supervisors of ICDS, N. H. M District officers and other members/members of the block and the staffs from Youth for Social Development were present.
Block Development Officer, Rangeilunda was present as the chief guest in the workshop and delivered his speech. In this workshop, everyone role in making all the 32 Gram Panchayats of Rangeilunda child friendly was discussed and the work done in the last one year was reviewed.
In particular, the issues of ensuring children’s rights, involving various families and children in social security schemes, and ensuring children’s participation in local governance were discussed. Along with this safety of children during disaster, plans to add disaster risk reduction in Gram Panchayat development plan were discussed. Government schemes and services available to children were also discussed.
Discussions were held on the planning process required for conducting child friendly Gram Panchayat and how these plans could be integrated into the upcoming Gram panchayat Development Plan.
The Block Development Officer called upon all Gram Panchayats to work on schemes for children on how to build child- friendly Panchayat. From Youth for Social Development, Program Coordinator Mr. Chandan Kumar Sahu, Project Coordinator Narendra Kumar Sahu, Block Coordinator Biplab Kumar Behera, Mamali Panda, Gitanjali Panigrahi and Sudeep Kumar Chakravarti coordinated this workshop.
