BHUBANESWAR:The gang rape of an Odia girl and an Odia medical student in Durgapur, West Bengal is extremely shameful. No matter how much we condemn it, it will be less. The inhuman and barbaric incident that happened to the victim student in the medical campus has raised questions about the safety of women in West Bengal. In this situation, the Chief Minister of that state, Mamata Banerjee, has made shameful comments that girls should not come out at night.

Instead of giving justice to the victim, no one has the right to bring gender inequality, question the rights of girls. Questioning the rights of girls is highly condemnable. If a woman Chief Minister says that girls should not go out at night, there is nothing more unfortunate than that. After this incident, the incompetence of the West Bengal Chief Minister has come to light. State Women’s Front President Dr. Aishwarya Biswal said that Mamata Banerjee’s anti-women stance will not be tolerated at all. In protest against this, the State Women’s Front held a protest against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Ram Mandir Square in Bhubaneswar.

On this occasion, Dr. Biswal said that women are no longer safe in West Bengal. The Mamata Banerjee government has failed to maintain law and order here. Mamata Banerjee has no sympathy for women. TMC workers have become goons in West Bengal. And the Mamata government is protecting them. Mamata only needs the votes of Odia diaspora during elections. But after the elections, Mamata Banerjee turns the diaspora into a scapegoat.
Mamata is keeping silent on the atrocities being committed against Odia diaspora. On the other hand, opposition leader Naveen Patnaik has not opened his mouth against Mamata Banerjee’s reckless statement. Naveen Patnaik’s silence on the incident has not only clarified their anti-women stance but also their closeness. Both support each other in various incidents. Even in such sensitive incidents, Naveen Patnaik has shown his contempt for women’s safety and Odia people by maintaining silence, said Dr. Biswal. Former MP Ms. Archana Nayak, Vice President Dr. Ranjita Sethi, General Secretary Rashmirekha Dash and many activists of the Women’s Front were present at this protest.
