BJP’s Member of Legislative Council (MLC) from Siwan  Tunna  Pandey was arrested today for molesting a 12-year-old girl on board a train. The party has suspended the MLC after the incident.

According to the girl, Pandey misbehaved and abused her while travelling in the Poorvanchal Express near Sarai railway station. He is likely to be produced before a court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
An NRI family from Thailand and a native of Gorakhpur was travelling in the A1 coach of Poorvanchal Express. The family had boarded the train from Kolkata at 2.30 pm on Saturday. Tunna Pandey too boarded the train at Durgapur station at 5.40 pm. He was travelling with his friend and was to get down at Hajipur station at around 2.30 am on Sunday.

The NRI family when they reached Hajipur station on Sunday morning, registered an FIR with the Hajipur GRP alleging that Tunna Pandey had molested their 12-year old daughter on board the running train. Soon after an FIR was registered, the police flung into action and arrested the BJP MLC.

Pandey, however, denied charges. ” I have done no wrong. It is possible that when I was trying to collect my luggage and mobile charger when the train was about to reach Hajipur that the bag might have touched the girl”,
“The statement that the girl has given is so shameful about the MLC that cannot be explained. So we have arrested him”, said Sanjay Singh, Inspector of Hajipur GRP.

INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN VAISHALI
The police said that the minor was abused on the train near Vishali district of Bihar.
After registering an FIR, the NRI family was so shocked that they did not board the train further and instead left for Gorakhpur via road. The police are completing legal formalities and preparing to send the BJP MLC to jail.
The police have booked him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.

BJP CRACKS THE WHIP
Soon after the incident a senior BJP leader announced that the party has suspended Tunna Pandey. The suspension was declared by former deputy chief minister of Bihar and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on his twitter account.
