TALCHER/BHUBANESWAR: Hundreds of BJP workers led by senior leader Kalandi Samal on Monday staged a ‘black cloth’ protest opposing 5T Secretary VK Pandian’s visit to the coal belt of Talcher in Angul.
The BJP leaders and workers, led by Kalandi Samal, wearing black clothes, staged a sit-in in front of the sub-collector’s office opposing Pandian’s visit to the district.
The BJP has up the ante since a purported audio related to the 5T Secretary’s Talcher visit went viral on social media. In the purported audio, Talcher MLA Brajakishore Pradhan was heard saying, ‘the more people come, the better it will be for Talcher’s development; a grander welcome will mean more funds.’ After the purported audio went viral, the BJP launched a scathing on MLA Pradhan and demanded his apology.
“5T Secretary is coming to us on June 10. He is coming not to take but to give to the people of Talcher. A swing for Radha. If he saw us, we showered flowers on him and he became happy; a very good amount of funds will come to us. There will be overall development in our area. So, we should come early and reach the venue by 7.30 am,” MLA Pradhan was heard requesting SHG women.
BJP leader Samal further alleged that the statement of the MLA has proved that elected representatives like MLAs and MPs of the BJD are making stages for Pandian, which is not at all a good sign for democracy.
