BHUBANESWAR: BJP Rajya Sabha MP and former Odisha cadre IAS officer , Ashwini Vaishnaw, who served as Private Secretary to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna , Atal Vihari Vajpayee Ji, was on Sunday remembered the BJP stalwart on his 2nd death anniversary.
While addressing a Sradhnjali Sabha hosted here at BJP’s State Headquarters, the Rajya Sabha MP Vaishnaw, recollected how Vajpayee Ji’s exemplary diplomatic skills help India to strengthen its military strategic policies and given a new dimension to India’s emerging potential to the world. The MP recollected many important developments during the tenure of Vajpayee Ji.
Former IAS officer Vaishnaw , an IIT-Kanpur alumnus, was private secretary to late PM Vajpayee in 2004. Vaishnaw was known to be a good administrator and was well spoken of by his superiors and colleagues. He always maintained an extremely low profile. State president Samir Mohanty presided over the meeting, which was attended by Party MPs,MLAs and leaders.
Vajpayee served as India’s prime minister thrice – briefly in 1996, from 1998 to 1999 and then for a full five-year term between 1999 and 2004. He was the first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party to become the prime minister.
Born on December 25, 1924, in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior, he was a prominent writer and had authored a number of poems. The BJP stalwart retired from active politics due to his feeble health after resigning as the prime minister in 2004.He died on August 16, 2018, at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Delhi after a prolonged illness.
