NUAPADA:A friendship festival of the Jhankar Paik community of Nuapada district was held in Nuapada today. In this, the state Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Bardhan Singh Deo, State Small Industries and Animal Husbandry Minister Gokulanand Mallick, Kalahandi MP Malvika Devi, Bargarh MP Rohit Pujari were the main participants and said that the Paik caste is a brave and proud caste of Odisha.
The brave Paiks have contributed a lot in the formation of the country and society. The BJP’s double engine government has been making efforts to protect the culture of the Paiks. The previous government did not take any steps to protect the Paik culture.
But after the BJP government came to power at the center, a grand program was organized at Delhi Vigyan Bhawan to consider the demands of the Paiks in this regard. In this, it was expressed that the Paik uprising was the first mass movement in the country’s freedom struggle and efforts were started to include it in the history textbooks. Accordingly, it has been included in the CDSE curriculum.
