BHUBANESWAR: BJP Ranpur MLA Surama Padhy on Wednesday filed her nomination papers for the election of Odisha Assembly Speaker post.
Flanked by Chief Minister Mohan Chanran Majhi, Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, MLA Padhy has submitted her nomination papers to Assembly Secretary Dasarathi Satpathy.
Ministers Suresh Pujari, Mukesh Mahaling, MLAs Prasant Jagdev, Durga Prasanna Nayak, Upasana Mohapatra and others were among those present.
Padhy was first elected to the Odisha Assembly from Ranpur segment on a BJP ticket in 2004. She had also served as a Minister of State with independent charge for the department Cooperation in the BJD-BJP coalition government in Odisha for the second term from 2004 to 2009.
