BJP government is buying one and a half times more paddy than what was purchased during the BJD government,BJD MLAs deliberately did not run the house,BJD is trying to mislead the people of Odisha by raising the issue of farmers
BHUBANESWAR:Naveen Patnaik has been the Chief Minister of Odisha for a long time for the past 24 years. If he had done something for the farmers at that time, he would not have had to sit on the opposition seat today. When he sat on the opposition seat, he said that he would work as a positive opposition party. If BJD says that it is a positive opposition party, then why is it afraid of debate in the Assembly? The Bharatiya Janata Party government is ready to answer all issues in the Assembly. But the BJD MLAs are deliberately not running the house.
The people of Odisha are seeing how they are destroying the dignity of the sacred house and wasting the valuable time of the house. BJD is trying to mislead the people of Odisha by raising the issue of farmers. The kind of internal war that Biju Janata Dal is engaged in today, has lost trust in the party leaders and workers, and at a time when the people are trying to save their political existence by playing such dramas, said State General Secretary Shri Biranchi Narayan Tripathi.
Shri Tripathi said that during the BJD government, 58 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased in the financial year 2023-24. At that time, only Rs 13,000 crore went to the farmers. After the BJP government came to power, in the financial year 2024-25, 92 lakh metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from 16 lakh 60 thousand farmers and Rs 27,000 crore was sent to them. Before the Bharatiya Janata Party government came to power, it had said in its resolution that it would purchase paddy from farmers at Rs 3,100 per quintal. Today, the BJP has fulfilled that promise.
The BJP government is purchasing one and a half times more paddy than what was purchased during the BJD government. When the BJP was in the opposition, all the party MLAs, starting from the then opposition leader, used to visit the markets to regulate the purchase of paddy. Now, after the BJP government came to power, senior BJP leaders, including the Chief Minister, ministers, MLAs and others, are visiting the markets to understand the benefits and problems of the farmers.
They are trying hard to regulate the purchase of paddy. On the other hand, whether as a responsible opposition leader or when he was the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik should give an answer to how many markets he visited and how many farmers he talked to. The people of Odisha should be given an answer to what the BJD has done for the welfare of farmers. The BJD had said that it would give Rs 10,000 to farmers under the Kalia Yojana. But later it had reduced to Rs 4,000. Not only that, the number of farmers was also decreasing in each installment. The successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked to give Rs 6,000 under the PM Kisan Yojana for the welfare of farmers. However, the BJD government at that time did not give a list of all the farmers. As a result, many farmers of Odisha were affected.
The BJD was in power for 24 years but did not focus on setting up agricultural colleges. The BJP government under the leadership of popular Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has announced in the budget to set up two agricultural colleges in Balangir and Mayurbhanj. The people of Odisha should know how many veterinary science colleges and fisheries science colleges were built during the BJD government. But the BJP government is going to build a veterinary science college in Chipilima and a fisheries science college in Sonepur. The Bharatiya Janata Party government is dedicated to the welfare of farmers. The BJP government is making great efforts for the welfare of agriculture. If the BJD has the guts, come to the assembly and ask about this, the BJP government will answer it there. The people of Odisha will consider it. But the BJD is afraid to do so.
During the BJD government, the cabinet minister was not safe, he was murdered in broad daylight. Today, it is very shameful for that party to raise law and order issues. In the last 20 months since the BJP came to power, if anyone has committed a crime, no one has been spared. The guilty have been put under investigation and sent to jail. The Bharatiya Janata Party government has also taken strong action against violence against women. During the BJD government, there was a 27% increase in violence against women every year. According to the NCR report of that time, Odisha was the most dynamic state in violence against women. The way the BJP government is working on agriculture, poor and women’s welfare, the BJD is doing this drama without getting any issues. The BJD is not coming to the assembly for debate due to fear of answering questions. The people of Odisha will never forgive them for this.
